Members of the College who have not graduated within 9 months of completing their degrees are usually classed as 'historic graduands'. To book your degree conferral, whether in person or in absence, please email stating:

  • your full name at matriculation
  • date of birth
  • address
  • matriculation year

You will be booked on to a ceremony only after current students have booked their ceremony, as many are only able to stay in the UK for a short time after completing their degrees.  Therefore degree ceremonies are usually booked for historic graduands from February onwards for either November or the following Spring (July and September ceremonies are usually overbooked) and spaces are very limited.

Once you have been registered for a degree ceremony, you will receive a confirmation email from the Central University and then the College will organise your graduation. The ceremonies usually take place either at 11 am, 2.30 pm or 4.30 pm; if you are graduating in absence (in absentia), you will receive your degree by post shortly after the degree ceremony. Please make sure that that the contact details you provide us with are kept up to date in order to receive the degree certificate at the correct address.

For those graduating in person, the College organises each aspect (registration, gown hire, photography and celebration lunch). You will be sent an email approximately 2 months prior to your graduation with further information about how to book these individual items, which you must reply in order to graduate. Students are usually allowed a maximum of 2 guests at the ceremony, and it is rare for additional tickets to become available. Please note that the University does not allow children under the age of 7 to attend the ceremony. However, the College organises a live stream of the ceremony for any guests that are unable to access the Sheldonian Theatre.

The College also organises a three-course lunch for you and up to five guests in either the Hall or a specially hired Marquee. You will be asked to register your attendance and supply the names of any guest attending the lunch as well as any access or dietary requirements that anyone in your party may have in the email sent to you by the College. If your guests themselves, or any of their requirements change, it is imperative that you let us know as soon as possible so that we can change the table plan and inform our catering team.  Please note that while lunch for graduands is complimentary, the College charges £25 per guest and requires you to pay for them in advance, (instructions will be included in the email.)  Once again, spaces are limited, so we highly recommend that you register your attendance and access or dietary requirements as early as possible.
