Members of the College who have not graduated within 9 months of completing their degrees are usually classed as 'historic graduands'. To book your degree conferral, whether in person or in absence, please email stating:

  • your full name (at matriculation – for married women, this is usually their maiden name)
  • date of birth
  • address
  • phone number
  • matriculation year

You may book only after current students have booked their ceremony as many are only able to stay in the UK for a short time after completing their degrees.  Therefore degree ceremonies are usually booked for historic graduands from February onwards for either March or November (July and September ceremonies are usually overbooked) and spaces are very limited.

Once you have been registered for a degree ceremony, you will receive a confirmation email from the Central University and then the College will organise your graduation. The ceremonies usually take place either at 11 am, 2.30 pm or 4.30 pm; if you are graduating in absence (in absentia), you will receive your degree by post shortly after the degree ceremony. Please, make sure that that the contact details you originally provide us with are kept up to date in order to receive the degree certificate at the correct address. If you would like your degree certificate to be posted to a different address, please email us at and we will make sure that it is appropriately delivered.

For those graduating in person, the College organises each aspect (registration, gown hire, photography and celebration lunch). You will be sent an email 2 months prior to your graduation with further information about how to book these individual items, which you must reply in order to graduate. Students are usually allowed a maximum of 3 guests at the ceremony – if you would like more than 3 guests to attend the degree ceremony, then please email us at  We will then put you on a waiting list for any extra ceremony tickets, however, please do be aware that these are: extremely limited, allocated on a first come first served basis, and, reliant on another graduate not taking their full allocation of tickets. Please, note that the University does not allow children under the age of 7 to attend the ceremony. The College, however, organises a live stream of the ceremony for any guests that are unable to attend the ceremony.

The College also organises a three-course lunch for you and your guests in either the Hall or the Marquee. You will be asked to register your attendance and supply the names of any guest attending the lunch as well as any access or dietary requirements that anyone in your party may have in the email sent to you by the College. If your guests themselves, or any of their requirements change, it is imperative that you let us know as soon as possible so that we can change the table plan and inform our catering team.  Please, note that while your lunch is complimentary the College charges £25 per guest and requires you to pay for them in advance, (instructions will be included in the email.)  Once again, spaces are limited, so we highly recommend that you register your attendance and access or dietary requirements as early as possible.
