From the Latin gaudium for ‘joy’ and the imperative gaude ‘rejoice’, Gaudies are an opportunity (indeed, an obligation) to celebrate with other members of the College, both from the same cohort as well as of different generations.
Comprising of Afternoon Tea in the Ship Street Centre, an update about the College’s activities and a three course Black Tie Formal, gaudies are generally the highlight of the alumni social calendar.
Everyone is invited back to College every five years on the anniversary of their matriculation, this September 13th, we celebrate the 1959, 1974, 1979, 1989 and 2004 cohorts.
While the Gaudy dinner itself is free, alumni who wish to stay overnight will be charged at the discounted rate of £57.50 (per person per night) for accommodation. Places at both the dinner and overnight accommodation are offered on a first come first served based due to the small capacity of the College.
