2021 Medicine Hi! I am Edwin, a third-year medical student. I have really enjoyed my time at Balliol, as it has been an incredibly formative part of my life. I love sports, so I have been involved in college rugby and rowing, but also university level rugby and kickboxing. I have really appreciated having more flexibility over my schedule this year, which has enabled me to engage more widely with opportunities that the university and college have to offer, including lectures, seminars, and dinners. I have particularly enjoyed meeting former alumni, which makes me very eager to meet more and discuss life at Balliol, my project, and an array of other topics. My project is titled ‘Do’s and Don’ts: What Can the UK Learn About Healthcare Spending, Advertising, and Reform?’. I am particularly excited to explore the perceptions of old members who would have likely experienced both systems, but also other locals to better shape my understanding of healthcare policy, at a time when it is becoming increasingly relevant.
