2020 Mathematics and Statistics I’m approaching the end of my fourth year as a Maths & Stats undergraduate at Balliol. My next steps beyond university are still somewhat unclear, but I’m hoping to find a way into epidemiological and public health research. What is certain, however, is that I’m incredibly excited to graduate and begin my adventures in North America on this programme. Originally from Somerset, I’m a very sociable person and enjoy chatting with friends over lunch or a drink at the pub. Since joining Balliol, I’ve picked up rowing, taken roles of Women’s Captain and Welfare Rep in the boat club, served as JCR President (2022) and thoroughly embraced the wonderful opportunities Balliol has to offer. My project will focus on how national, regional and familial cuisines, as summarised by baked goods, vary as I move between locations and how they’ve established themselves as treasured traditions. I’m open-minded, curious and very keen to meet new people, share experiences and gain different perspectives, and I hope to offer some new insights to others along the way too.
