Medicine

Hi! I’m Sam, a third-year medical student. Studying at Balliol, and all the opportunities it has afforded me, has shaped my growth into adulthood. I am heavily involved in college life; I am president of Balliol medical society, I was JCR welfare officer, I work in the JCR Lindsay bar, I have acted in the Balliol charity musical, I have been on the rowing team, I do stand-up comedy at A&B society, and I took part in telethon, getting to know alumni from all over the world. All of these roles have given me confidence, taught me to work hard, and helped me to understand people better- attributes I hope to carry with me into medical practice in the future.

My project aims to study how attitudes to healthcare, particularly women’s health and insurance policy, have changed against the backdrop of the changing political and cultural landscape in America. There is no better way to do this than conversations with American citizens who have varied, authentic, first-hand experiences. I am eager to dive in!
