2023 PPE Hi, I’m Mukund, a third-year PPEist. I have absolutely loved my time here at Balliol, and am very grateful for all the opportunities it has provided, especially Pathfinders! Some of my favourite memories over the last few years include playing for the cricket and squash teams, hosting a table tennis tournament in my first year, and getting involved as JCR Secretary and President of the Oxford Economics Society. And of course, nothing quite beats basking in the sunshine on Main Quad whilst admiring the college in its full glory during Trinity term. I’m looking forward to hearing alumni’s stories of their time at Balliol, and to finding out what has (or hasn’t) changed! My project explores American nationalism and the United States’ sense of its role in the world. I’m particularly interested in the sources of American national pride, how attitudes vary across different communities, and how they are evolving over time. I’m excited to meet hosts with a diverse range of experiences, broaden my horizons and gain as many perspectives as possible!
