2022 English and Modern Languages (French) Hi there, I’m Maggie, and I’m so excited to make my journey this summer! I can’t wait to meet alumni who have followed a similar path, and to discover where that path has taken them. The past four years spent as a student of English and French at Balliol have been completely transformative: from loving college life, to designing for the Fashion Gala, writing for the Climate Society, and interning in Paris, the possibilities have been endless. Oxford has been challenging and inspiring in equal measure. I am certain that this travel project will be much the same. I plan to research the fascinatingly diverse dialects of French spoken across North America; they are like living links between past and present. I believe that this study of foreign language and heritage could be truly insightful. Now more than ever, it is so important to interrogate how language shapes our history and our future. Thank you to the Balliol community for providing the Pathfinders experience: what a wonderful opportunity it is!
