Physics and Philosophy

Hello! I’m Felicity and I’m currently about midway through my fourth year in Physics and Philosophy. Balliol has come to mean the world to me over my time here, and I’ve really tried to make the most of it, whether by being part of the Music Society committee and helping organise our Sunday classical music concerts or attending the Balliol Chalet Reading Party. Being Balliol’s Captain of Coxes (and now also Captain of Coxes for the university) currently takes up most of my time outside of my degree, but I previously also loved being Women’s Officer and Arts and Pictures’ Officer on the JCR committee over my first couple of years. My time here has given me so much, and I’m looking forward to using all that I’ve learnt once I graduate!

My project, inspired by my current physics paper on atmospheres and oceans, focuses on how different communities appreciate the nature around them, and how this may differ between different eco-regions. I am thrilled to have been offered this chance to travel to North America to learn more about this topic, while meeting members of the wider Balliol community as I do. It’s a lovely opportunity to learn as much as I can from Balliolites already out in the real world, and I hope to be able to offer a little back in return!
