2017 History Hi, I’m Emma and I’m a History graduate. During my time at Balliol I loved the opportunity to immerse myself in the study of social history and to throw myself into college life. I was a founding member of the Balliol Improv Group, Studio Manager of the Michael Pilch Theatre, Co-President of the comedy debating club A&B, college netball captain and regularly performed with The Oxford Imps. These experiences sparked my desire to work in the creative industries, and ultimately in filmmaking. I currently work in the film industry as an Accounts Assistant and an independent Producer. I want to use the Pathfinders trip to combine my passion for film with my academic foundation as a historian, exploring the changing nature of American documentary filmmaking over the last few decades, and what this shows about American national identity. I am excited to meet documentary practitioners and subjects across the country to gain an insight into this fascinating discipline, as well as meeting as many Balliol alumni as I can along the way!
