2022 English Language and Literature Hello! I’m Caitlin and I’m in my final year studying English literature. I’ve had such an exciting and transformative time at Balliol and am so grateful for the community I’ve found here. Over the past three years, I’ve thrown myself into different aspects of college life. I’ve worked in the Lindsay Bar as Duckworth and was also elected as Entz Rep last year. I am a co-president of the Balliol literary society, and I have also been involved with the Pilch committee—I was honoured to play John de Balliol himself in last year’s charity musical. Beyond Balliol, I’ve enjoyed getting involved with student radio, where I host an ‘arts and culture’ chat show with a friend. I feel so privileged to have the opportunity to travel North America and meet Balliol Old Members after graduating. Since arriving here, discovering Balliol’s unique stories and history has been really fascinating to me, and I can’t wait to share my own experiences with alumni. On my travels, I am going to be undertaking a creative project, visiting certain landmarks of literary and artistic interest and visually documenting them in a book. I’m particularly interested in visiting artists’ memorials and developing my own creative response to their work, aiming to access a sense of resonance across spatial/temporal limits.
