The Younger Society Dinner

Balliol lawyers are warmly invited to attend the annual Younger Society Dinner at Balliol College.

About the Speaker

Our speaker this year is Ms Cressida Dick – CBE, QPM, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.

Ms Dick was educated at the Dragon School and Oxford High School before going on to read Agriculture and Forest Sciences at Balliol College, Oxford and completing a Master of Philosophy in criminology at Cambridge. Ms Dick is the first woman to take charge of the service, being selected for the role in February 2017 and taking office in April 2017. Ms Dick joined the Metropolitan Police as a constable in 1983 and transferred to Thames Valley Police as a superintendent in 1995. In June 2001, Ms Dick returned to the Metropolitan Police as a commander, where she was head of the diversity directorate until 2003. She then became the head of Operation Trident and was promoted to deputy assistant commissioner in June 2009 before assistant commissioner in 2011. Ms Dick has been awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for distinguished service and CBE for services to policing.

Dress: Black Tie
Price: £60 for Old Members who finished their degree before 2015; £25 for Old Members who finished their degree in or after 2015; current students will be batteled £25 (tbc).
Accommodation: There are some rooms avaliable in College for the night of 2 December (single room, bed and breakfast) for £50.
