In Memory of Penry Williams, 1925-2013  Front page of service sheet

The College was deeply saddened to learn of the death on 30 April 2013 of Penry Williams, Fellow and Tutor in History from 1963 to 1992 and Honorary Fellow from 1998.

Memorial Service

A memorial service was held at New College on Saturday 12th October and a copy of the service sheet is available here. The introductiongiven by the Warden, the address by Allen Warren and the address on "Penry the Historian" by Sir Keith Thomas are also available to download.

 

The Penry Williams Fellowship in History

Following discussions with a number of Old Members and with Penry's family, New College has launched an appeal to establish the Penry Williams Fellowship in History, to provide a permanent reminder of Penry's twenty nine years of service and dedication to the College and his students.
