Supporting Earth Sciences

The rich and varied work of the Department of Earth Sciences thrives on three key ingedients:

Giving to the Department can make an impact in all these areas.

Gifts to the Annual Fund support the field teaching programme: training the next generation of earth scientists, who might go on to support communities at risk of earthquakes, supply rare earth minerals for future technologies, or mitigate climate change.

Support for research posts, from studentships to Chairs, ensures that the most important questions can be studied by the best minds available, independent of political or economic pressure.

Investment in facilities, from microscopes to research labs, allows students and researchers to benefit from the enhanced investigative techniques which modern technology can offer.

Our goal this year is to raise £200,000 for undergraduate field teaching, and we hope that you will be able to support us in this endeavour. A gift of any size will have a real impact on the undergraduate field experience, at whatever stage the student is at in their Earth Sciences career.
