OUGS Geoscience Careers Fair: Friday 19th October 2018

Careers Fair 2014

Employers from a range of geoscience companies have joined us since 2013 for our annual Careers Fair. Designed with the specific needs of our students in mind - and organised jointly with OUGS, the department's student society - the event is designed to highlight the wealth of geoscience roles available.

In the main, it is our alumni who return to Oxford to explain their current roles, which provides a great opportunity for students to network with potential colleagues of the future. We encourage students from first year undergraduate to final year postgraduate to attend, and we also advertise to our PostDoc community, all of whom are on short-term contracts and could well be looking to make a more permanent move into industry.

The next event will take place early in Michaelmas Term, on Friday 19th October 2018.

Alumni are welcome as job seekers as well as company/industry representatives.

Alumni Speakers from the 2015 Careers Fair

If you are interested in representing your company, or your role in a specific industry at next year's event, please contact Isobel Walker for further details.

We are particularly interested in representing niche roles, which might not be commonly promoted to geoscientists, for example environmental consultants in the retail sector, hydrogeologists in engineering companies, or geoscience roles in the third sector. Employers do not have to have a current vacancy to be eligible to attend - our students benefit greatly from talking to you and gaining more understanding about your industry. Equally, alumni do not have to be well established in an industry in order to represent it: some of the most useful experiences are from those who have most recently joined a sector!

However you feel you can help, we'd be delighted to welcome you.
