Alumni Events

The Department of Earth Sciences runs several alumni events throughout the year, offering the opportunity to get back in touch with old friends, network with other Earth Sciences professionals and learn more about current Departmental research.

There are also opportunities to meet alumni from across the University at the various events run by the central Alumni Office, on professional and interest-based subjects such as the environment, media, conservation, career progression, or Varsity sport. Volcano Exhibition at the Weston Library - until 21st May 2017

View the Bodleian's collection of artefacts and archive documents relating to some of the world's first documented volanic eruptions. Admission is free, and there is no need to book.

Houston Lecture - Friday 19th May 2017

Head of Department, Gideon Henderson, will be visiting Houston, TX on Friday 19th May. The local alumni chapter, OUS Houston - led by Geology alumnus Kevin Bradford (Univ 1988) - have arranged for Gideon to speak on the topic of "Beyond Paris: Carbon Change" followed by drinks at L'Alliance Francaise. WatersGate - Monday 25th Sept 2017

In celebration of Dave Waters on the event of his forthcoming retirement from teaching, the department and OUMNH will be hosting a day of talks from former colleagues and students. A drinks reception and dinner will  follow in the evening. Contact the Alumni Office for further information.

Weekly Research Seminars

Alumni are welcome to attend the weekly research seminars in the Department. The seminars take place at 12 Noon every Friday during term time. For more information, please visit our forthcoming lectures page.
