“Let not our babbling dreams affright our souls.
Conscience is but a word that cowards use,
Devised at first to keep the strong in awe.
Our strong arms be our conscience, swords our law.
March on, join bravely, let us to it pell-mell,
If not to heaven, then hand in hand to hell.”
- Act 5, scene 3
With the Wars of the Roses seemingly at an end, the new Yorkist elite attempts to adapt to the uneasy peace. That is all apart from Richard, who, shorn of his battlefield vocation, can only dream of obtaining the crown for himself. But with his elder brothers, nephews, and noblemen who owe their loyalty to Edward blocking his path, that would seem to be impossible—or is it… and will old ghosts come back to haunt him?
Please note that the performance scenes of war, murder, assault, sexual coercion, distressing depictions of corporal and capital punishment, depictions of the occult, references to suicide, grief, deaths (including of children), mental illness, ableist and sexist language, weapons, and sudden loud noises.
