Jesus College Shakespeare Project: King John

This England never did, nor never shall,

Lie at the proud foot of a conqueror,

But when it first did help to wound itself.

- Act 5, scene 7

Weak, arrogant and proud, King John reigns over a troubled kingdom at threat from foreign invasion and his own excommunication by the Pope. What will John be prepared to do to keep his crown? And who will save England from her own destruction?
