450th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

A collaboration between the Development Office and Access & Outreach teams will bring Shakespeare to wider audiences as part of the Jesus 450th anniversary celebrations.  Led by Access Fellow Matt Williams, Helen Morag Fellow Paulina Kewes, Departmental Lecturer Amy Lidster, and Alumni Events Manager Peter Sutton, the Jesus College Shakespeare Project will present abridged versions of Shakespeare’s plays that are accessible to audiences of all ages. The first production of the Shakespeare Project – The Comedy of Errors – was performed in Hall for local schoolchildren and alumni in November. Find out more about the project and its plans for future productions here.

The 11th and penultimate object in Jesus College’s 450th Anniversary digital exhibition series ‘12 Objects’ is Muriel Chapman's Chemistry notes. Spattered with chemical spills, they record the work of one of the first women to graduate from Chemistry at the University of Oxford.

For those seeking festive gifts, a reminder that the new illustrated history of Jesus College - Jesus College Oxford: The First 450 Years - is available to buy through the Blackwell's website. The book, published this year in conjunction with the College's 450th anniversary year, incorporates new research from the archives, with chapters on the College's heritage and buildings, artistic and literary treasures, and today's College community.
