Celebrating recent publications by our faculty members

This week, we were delighted to be able to hold an event to celebrate the publication of over 50 books written and edited by our Faculty members over the past two years. Due to recent restrictions and lockdowns, many of our academics were unable to hold launch events for their books, so we wanted to give them the opportunity to celebrate their publications with colleagues, family and friends. You can see a selection of the books above; the variety of topics highlighting the diversity of research taking place at the English Faculty.

The Chair of the Faculty Board, Professor Marion Turner said: “This event showcased over fifty brilliant books published by our Faculty members during the pandemic. They range from biographies to books of poetry, from literary-critical monographs to editions of texts, from companion books for students to books of essays. It is fascinating to see the variety of books and to celebrate some colleagues' first books, and others' tenth books. Colleagues have written books on Margery Kempe and on Jane Austen, on Tom Stoppard and on postcolonial Cyprus, on Shakespeare and on Old Norse, on Montaigne and on Dickens, on fin de siecle cosmopolitanism and on eighteenth-century theatre. Many have already won prizes – such as Russomania and Amadis in English – and together they are a testament to the richness of our faculty.”
