‘May Day morning means many things: summer, Morris Dancers, gorgeous choral song from the top of Magdalen tower, and for many undergraduates, a hangover. The return of this tradition was the perfect illustration of the city revitalised. Summer events are back in full swing, as is Balliol’s William Westerman Pathfinders scheme, thanks to which I now find myself in the enviable position of balancing DPhil dissertation work with my preparations to travel all around America, talking to people about the impact of political satire, and hopefully meeting lots of Balliol alumni!’
Holly Hunt (2020, DPhil Classical Languages and Literature)
