News and updates from Balliol College

October 2021

‘It was wonderful to see all the Freshers in Hall for brunch after their matriculation on 16 October 2021. This day marked the official beginning of their academic studies at Oxford. As one of the College’s new Junior Deans, I was in the Hall to ensure that the day went as planned. I felt the great excitement in the atmosphere, and I took this photo as a visual reminder of how central such gatherings are for maintaining a sense of a close-knit community and for defining the Balliol experience more generally – even in the most challenging of times.’
Petros Spanou (2017, DPhil History), Junior Dean
