News and updates from Balliol College

November 2021

‘Having arrived in Oxford at the beginning of October, I can hardly believe that term is almost over. The past eight weeks have certainly been busy. From discussing Machiavelli with first-years, to debating the history of emotions with postgraduates, I have had the privilege of getting to know and teach some of our remarkable students. It’s clear that the disruptions of the past two years have done nothing to dim their passion, dedication and dynamism. I only hope I can keep up with them!’
Frederick Smith (Early Career Fellow in Early Modern History)
