News and updates from Balliol College

February 2018

'In other places an early morning walk by the river might be a peaceful and solitary affair. Not in Oxford, and particularly not in the week before Torpids. The river is busy with dozens of crews preparing for bumps racing. Some are adding final touches to their starts, others find room among the throng of boats to practise a race-pace piece. Six of these crews represent Balliol, three each for women and men. Our rowers are going into Torpids with high aspirations, hoping that their hard work will pay off.'
Jonathan Martin (2015, BA Medical Sciences), President of the Balliol College Boat Club
