Balliol e-News: news and updates from Balliol College.

JULY 2016

It's the summer vacation - With three degree ceremonies done, and two more to go before August, we have been working hard in the Lodge to get the students ready to collect their degrees. We are sorry to see you leave, but congratulate everybody who is finishing their degree this summer.

New men's eight for Boat Club
Peter Wetherall (1978) has generously given the Balliol College Boat Club a new men’s eight, in honour of his 60th birthday. The boat is named 'Endeavour' because he feels it “sums up what rowing is about but was also the name of Captain Cook's ship which discovered the east coast of Australia in 1770.  I liked the symmetry of an Australian sending a boat called "Endeavour" back to England...”
