'One highlight of the Library team’s year is opening our autumn exhibition to the public for Oxford Open Doors and then for the Balliol Society the following weekend. This year’s Apocalypse Now? Seven Visions from the Historic Collections
explores the fascinating but potentially gloomy subject of the end of the world. Luckily, contributions from Balliol alumni provided over 470 visitors with reasons to be cheerful. We were also proud to unveil Balliol’s wonderful and ever-growing collection of books by Old Members, which the team spent the summer caring for and moving to the glass cases in our Historic Collections Centre. Together, the exhibition and the Balliol Authors collection have led me to reflect on the enquiring and generous spirit of our world-wide Balliol community.'
