March 2025

'As I write, in Week 7 of Hilary Term, spring is popping in Oxford and the Balliol gardens are a riot of croci and aconites. This year I’m giving the Dervorguilla lecture on hunting in art in the wonderful Historic Collections housed in St Cross, which was a church when I lived next door in Holywell Manor as a graduate student. I can’t thank the Library staff enough for their help and everybody in Balliol for the kind welcome this term.'
